Here's what I bought so far:
- Urien and Lelith as count as choices, because they look neat but they suck in terms of rules compared to other SC choices like the Baron or the Duke.
- A blister of 3 cryx overseer from Warmachine using them as stand in Haemonculi.
- 10 Incubi, with the intention to run them as 2x4 with Haemi support in skimmers.
- 30 Warriors, mainly for trueborn and conversion purposes.
- 20Wyches, but I'm not sure if I want to run more than one squad.
- 5 Hellions, because I want more spare bits and may build a warp beast squad in the future. That depends on how/if GW faq clears up the strength through pain token questions.
- 6 Reaver bikes, with the intention to get 3-6 more in the future.
- 3 Ravager kits
- 2 Raider kits
- one Eldar Vyper, which gives me to unassembled kits for Venom conversions.
- a box of WHF imperial Flagellants, which will from the core of my wreck conversions.
- and of course the codex itself.
Urien will be my ancient haemonculi model, while Lilith gets converted into a simple champion. For my Archon and the Duke I intend to build multi-purpose models using plastic bits from both the Eldar and Dark Eldar range, allowing me to run them as either an Autarch with the Eldar codex or an Archon using the DE dex.
Warriors will be mixed with DA and Guardian bits, giving me some pirate-themed Storm Guardians and Warriors, who can also be used as Dark Avengers in a Eldar list. I may even try to replace my Fire Dragons with plastic conversion, using the spare Disintegrator Cannons from Raider and Ravager kits to make my own melter guns.
I don't think Incubi will fill a "count as" role, but I'm playing around with the thought of mixing my Wyches kits with female bodies from the Guardian and Warrior sprues. That way they end up a bit more covered in armor, allowing me to field them as count as Banshees if I intend to run my space elves pirates using the CWE codex.
Getting a playable army done, with units who may also run with the CWE codex is my primary goal for the next month. I don't intend to go beyond the already mentioned conversions, except for maybe getting my hand on a FW eldar nightwing and turning him into a Razorwing flyer.
On top of all those spendings on Dark Eldar models, I also invested a bit in my airbrush gear. I pimped my cheap ebay compressor with a 3L pressure tank, which I may keep with the next compressor (if the ebay stuff dies on me). So instead of running all the time while painting, I got a air reserve allowing me to spray with 20psi pressure for roughly 40-45 seconds before the compressor kicks in again. During a practice session I managed to drop and thus bend the 0.2mm needle from my gun. I had to replace it and bought a cap for the 5ml cup, a quick fix end piece and a quick coupling with a in-build air-valve.
So I only need to wait for all those DE orders to arrive, spend my spare time practicing with my pimped airbrush gear and then get that army on the table again.
